Electro-Acupuncture or TENS
Electroacupuncture is a modern variation of traditional acupuncture that involves the use of small electrical currents to enhance the therapeutic effects of the treatment. During an electroacupuncture session, fine needles are inserted into specific acupuncture points on the body, just like in traditional acupuncture. These needles are then connected to a device that generates gentle electrical pulses. The electrical stimulation helps to promote the flow of Qi (energy) and blood, reduce pain, and accelerate the healing process. This technique is particularly effective for treating conditions such as chronic pain, inflammation, and neurological disorders.
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS)
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) is a non-invasive pain relief method that uses low-voltage electrical currents to alleviate discomfort. A TENS unit consists of a small, battery-operated device that delivers electrical impulses through electrodes placed on the skin near the area of pain. These impulses interfere with the transmission of pain signals to the brain and stimulate the production of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers. TENS is commonly used to treat a variety of pain conditions, including back pain, arthritis, muscle soreness, and post-surgical pain. It offers a convenient and drug-free option for managing acute and chronic pain.
