Hello, I’m Shana (pronounced Shay-nuh), and I believe the body inherently wants to heal itself. I’m passionate about helping people navigate the often unpredictable path to wellness, drawing on both my personal experience and education in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
My journey with chronic illness, including countless visits to specialists, medications, and surgeries, took a transformative turn in 2013 when I discovered acupuncture. After my first treatment, I felt more relaxed and pain-free than I had in years. This profound experience motivated me to dive deeper into holistic healing.
Acupuncture became a cornerstone of my recovery, particularly after a car accident left me with severe concussion symptoms. The remarkable results I experienced inspired me to pursue a career in TCM, starting as an office manager at a busy acupuncture clinic before eventually becoming a practitioner.
During my battle with endometriosis, acupuncture played a pivotal role in managing my pain and reducing reliance on medications post-surgery. These personal experiences have deeply shaped my approach to healing, and I understand the value of exploring alternative treatments when western medicine alone falls short.
As a neurodivergent practitioner, I bring a personal and deep understanding of the unique needs and experiences of individuals with diverse neurological profiles. I am committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive space where everyone feels valued and understood. Acupuncture offers numerous benefits, and I am dedicated to helping my patients experience its calming and healing effects in a supportive environment.
With two Bachelor of Science degrees in Health and Physical Education and a Master’s degree in Acupuncture that required four years of year-round schooling, I bring a strong educational foundation to my practice. As a board-certified Diplomate of Acupuncture with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), I had to pass three rigorous board exams to earn this certification. Having treated more than 300 patients while in school, I have gained extensive experience in addressing a wide range of health issues. I am dedicated to lifelong learning, ensuring I stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in holistic healing. Whether you’re dealing with pain, stress, digestive issues, or recovery from surgery, I’m here to support and enhance your body’s natural ability to heal and thrive.

Testimonials
-I’ve had the pleasure of receiving acupuncture treatments from Shana during the final year of her training at OCOM and now as an independent practitioner. She is an attentive and compassionate listener—I've never felt more heard by a healthcare provider.
Shana has successfully treated a variety of issues for me, including jaw pain from teeth grinding, back pain, constipation, anxiety, motion sickness, and even nightmares. I didn't realize just how many issues Traditional Chinese Medicine is able to treat. With regular acupuncture sessions, my jaw pain significantly improved, leaving my jaw looser and more comfortable than it had ever been. Another particularly remarkable instance was when I experienced nightmares due to medication down titration (SNRI). Shana resolved this with a single needle placed in the bottom of my foot, and the nightmares stopped entirely.
Her approach goes beyond merely addressing symptoms—Shana treats the whole person. She is deeply committed to understanding the root causes of discomfort and helping her patients achieve lasting relief. Her care transformed me from an acupuncture skeptic to someone who recommends it to everyone.
I highly recommend Shana to anyone seeking thoughtful, personalized, and effective care. She has been an invaluable part of my health journey.

I absolutely loved my visit to Peaceful Owl Acupuncture!
I was fortunate to meet Shana while she was interning at O.C.O.M. I’ve had excellent luck with intern practitioners, and Shana has been one of the very best to treat me. Shana is a very good listener. I need a practitioner who will allow me to be an active collaborative part of the process, and Shana accommodates this beautifully!
I was honored when Shana invited me out to experience her new studio space and get a treatment! The space is lovely. It is clean without feeling cold or clinical. It is cozy without feeling cluttered or claustrophobic. It probably helps that her sense of aesthetics and mine vibe. If I had the money, and she had the time, I’d ask her to also be my interior decorator.
The treatment Shana gave me was amazing! I am one of those people who is always cold. Shana has a heated table and a heat lamp! Which allowed the heat venting treatment to lower my irritability to go on for so much longer than that treatment can usually go for. I was so chill at the end of my treatment! My pain levels are usually ridiculous. Shana has a light touch, and I appreciate that. In addition to acupuncture she employed moxa, tuning forks, teishen, and a tiger warmer. I find that using more than one modality distracts my brain long enough to let the needles do their thing. Also, they’re pleasant, so may as well.
Shana’s personality has a lot to do with why she is an excellent practitioner for me. She is so kind, curious, open minded, and intuitive.
I have to spend far too much time in medical settings that are cold, clinical, stressful, and frankly ugly. Shana’s charming studio and warm personality are a respite and a solace.
Shana was an A+, 5 stars, 10/10 experience for me.

-Shana is detailed-oriented and wildly caring. Her focus on the deep intricacies of my history did not outshine her equal grace and poise in the treatments she gives. I leave each week feeling seen and held in the deepest ways.

-I have seen Shana on a couple of occasions and am always impressed with her calming presence, knowledgeable but approachable explanations, and the calm I feel after a treatment. She made sure to check in multiple times throughout the process that I was comfortable and gave me a heads up about acupuncture points that may be more noticeable to me during treatment. Shana also goes above and beyond on the comfort! I have done community acupuncture before, and this feels like a spa treatment in comparison with much more in depth questioning to determine the best treatment plan. 100% would recommend!

I may be biased, but Shana is hands down the best acupuncturist I’ve ever had the pleasure of being treated by. Her attention to detail, compassionate and calm demeanor, and the diverse range of modalities she uses truly set her apart.
She has been a game-changer for me in managing Seasonal Affective Disorder and has worked wonders on my knee and back pain. Shana has also helped me manage my ADHD without the need for prescription medication, and she’s offered incredibly insightful lifestyle recommendations that have made a big difference in my daily life.
What really sets her apart is the variety of techniques she incorporates into each treatment. It’s not just about a couple of needles—Shana uses tuning forks, massage tools, and electro-stimulation acupuncture, all of which have been invaluable for my chronic knee pain. And the cupping... it just feels soooo good! Honestly, my only regret is that I sometimes fall asleep during treatments and miss out on some of the magic!
If you’re dealing with pain, stress, anxiety, recovery from injury or surgery, or just want to feel amazing for an hour (and for days afterwards), I can’t recommend Peaceful Owl Acupuncture highly enough. Trust me—you’ll thank me later!

-Shana is attentive, thoughtful, knowledgeable and professional. I went to Shana for general well-being visits while she was still a student at OCOM. Since she was still a student, her treatments were overseen by an instructor and there was another student in the room. Even with the lack of privacy, Shana made me feel comfortable and relaxed. I found that she far exceeded the level one might expect from a student. I am looking forward to receiving more treatments from her in her studio at Peaceful Owl Acupuncture.
